CM announces Rs 2000 cr for Old City development
Hyderabad, Oct 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy announced a special package of Rs 2000 crore for the development of the Old City, here today.
Talking to reporters after a surprise visit to the Old City to acquaint himself with sanctioning civic amenities and other infrastructure facilities there, he said the sewerage and underground drainage system would be completed in five years, with a total cost of Rs 800 crore.
Mr Reddy also announced that construction of 8000 houses under Rajiv Gruha Kalpa Yojana would be taken up immediately and Rs 100 crore would be allocated for drinking water infrastructure.
The Charminar-Falaknuma Road which was pending since 1985 would be completed in another three to four months, he said and added that widening of 26 roads in the Old City, Charimnar Pedestrianisation Project and Musi river beautification would be completed in a time bound manner.
Mr Reddy was accompanied by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and Charminar MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri.
