BHEL secures Rs 950 cr captive power plant order from
New Delhi, Oct 12 (UNI) Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has secured a Rs 950 crore order from Bharat Oman Refinery Ltd (BORL), for setting up a 99 Mega Watts (MW) captive power plant as part of its Refinery project at Bina in Madhya Pradesh, on a turnkey basis, The power plant will be equipped with eco-friendly, Circulating Fluidised Bed Combustion (CFBC) boilers, specifically designed to utilise Petcoke fuel.
The company said this is its first contract for Petcoke-fired CFBC boilers, as also the largest-value single order ever secured by the company's Industry Sector business segment.
The power plant will meet the process steam and power requirement of the upcoming Refinery project. While the first unit is slated for commissioning in a schedule of 26 months, the project will be completed within 30 months.
The equipment, to be supplied under the contract, has to meet very stringent technical specifications to ensure uninterrupted and high-quality power and steam, required for the refinery.
BHEL's scope of work in the project envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the power plant, in addition to complete civil works.
Major equipment to be supplied includes three 33 MW Steam Turbine Generators and CFBC Boilers of 275 tons per hour capacity with Petcoke/Limestone Handling systems and Ash Handling system, other associated auxiliaries and balance of plant equipment.
The equiment for the project will be supplied by BHEL's plants at Hyderabad, Trichy, Ranipet, Bhopal, Jhansi and Electronics Division, Bangalore. Complete Civil Works and Erection and Commissioning of the captive power plant will be carried out by the company's Power Sector- Western Region, Nagpur.
BHEL is a market leader in co-generation and captive power plants, offering units from 10 MW onwards for both steam turbine based and gas-based combined cycle power projects for total power and process steam requirements of various industries.
So far, the company has supplied and commissioned more than 700 steam turbine and gas turbine-based plants for a host of industries like metal, paper, sugar, cement and process industries like refineries, petrochemicals and fertiliser, a company statement said.
