Ayala equals Argentine appearance record

MURCIA, Spain, Oct 11 (Reuters) Argentina centre-back Roberto Ayala equalled Diego Simeone's record of 106 appearances for the national side when he led his side out against Spain in a friendly international today.

The 33-year-old made his international debut in November 1994 and has been a fixture in the national side ever since. The Valencia defender played at the 1998 and 2006 World Cups and was part of the Argentina side that won the gold medal at the 2004 Olympics.
