AP Rapid Chess Championship begins on Oct 16

Hyderabad, Oct 12 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh wing of the Chess Players Association of India (CPAI) will organise a two-day Rapid Open Chess championship at the indoor sports complex, Ameerpet from October 16.

In a release here, CPAI AP wing Chief Executive Lanka Ravi said the tournament carries a total prize money of Rs 10,000. Matches would be conducted for different age groups and the tourney was open to only Andhra Pradesh State players.

Top three prize winners would be selected for the CPAI- organised Pune knock-out Rapid Chess Championship where the players would have an opportunity to grab an assured prize money of Rs 2,500 (minimum) or the first prize of Rs 1 lakh, Ravi added.

International Chess Master V Koshy of Chennai would be the tournament Director and Lanka Ravi would be the Organising secretary of the tournament, the release added.
