Administration failed to deal Chikungunya menace: Anbazhagan

Puducherry, Oct 12 (UNI) AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan MLA today criticised the Puducherry administration for not taking any efforts to check the spread of chickungunya in the Union Territory.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Anbazhagan alleged the administration, instead of gearing up to tackle the situation by itself, was seeking the Centre's assistance.

Coming down heavily on PMK Parliamentary Party leader Prof M Ramadass for his statement that there were no chikungunya cases in Puducherry, he alleged that Mr Ramadass was echoing Union Minister Anbumani Ramdoss' statement that there were no chikungunya related deaths in the country.

The local bodies should check the spread of not only Chikungunya but also Dengue fever, he said.

Mr Anbazhagan alleged that Chief Minister Rangasamy was providing free rice to all only to hide his misdeeds.

''Instead of providing the youth more employment opportunities, the minister, by providing free rice, had made the youth more lazy,'' he said.

He wondered why the administration had failed to provide 15 kg free rice to the handicapped persons for the last three months and pension to the fishermen for the last four months.
