4253 people infected with dengue, 84 deaths

New Delhi, Oct 12: As many as 4253 cases of dengue have been reported with 84 deaths throughout the country till today.

In Delhi and its neighbouring states a total 1186 cases of dengue have been reported and 22 people have died from the disease. Out of these, 766 cases have been reported from Delhi, while 420 cases from the NCR and other states.

The 420 cases from outside Delhi includes 133 cases from Haryana, 214 cases from Uttar Pradesh, 12 cases from Rajasthan and 61 from others.

Apart from Delhi, the maximum number of dengue cases have been reported from Kerala (794), followed by Gujarat (424), Rajasthan (328), West Bengal (314), Tamil Nadu (306), Uttar Pradesh (282), Maharashtra (240), Punjab (201), Haryana (100), Karnataka (60) and Andhra Pradesh (18).

Meanwhile, a total of 1602 confirmed cases of chikungunya has been found while more than 1.3 million are suspected cases. However, no death have been reported from India as a whole including Delhi, according to a health ministry release here.

A total number of 21 cases have been reported from Delhi and NCR region. Apart from Delhi, the maximum number of confirmed Chikungunya cases have been reported from Maharashtra (679), followed by Karnataka (294), Andhra Pradesh (248), Gujarat (145), T.N. (1), M.P. (62) Kerala (38) and Pondicherry (4).
