175kg poppy husk recovered in Ferozpur
Ferozpur, Oct 12 (UNI) Five bags of poppy husk, weighing 35 kg each, were recovered from a car coming from neighbouring Rajasthan and the driver nabbed under the NDPS act, police said today.
SSP Arpit Shukla, told reporters here that a police party, while on routine patrol duty in the area of Sadar JBD last night, noticed a car coming from Rajasthan side. The driver of the car, speeded up and tried to escape when the police signalled him to stop.
He was however, arrested and identified as Gurnam Singh of Moga district. After a thorough search of the car, five bags of poppy husk weighing 35 kg each were recovered and a case under section 15,61,85 NDPS Act was registered against the accused in PS Sadar Jalalaad.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had brought poppy husk from Matili Rajasthan at the rate of 10000 Rs per bag and was planning to sell it in Moga district at about double the price.
Investigation of the case was on and police parties have been sent to various places to trace his other associates and permanant customers.
