Zydex launches water proofing agent at Rs 1.25/sq ft

New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) Gujarat-based polymer manufacturer Zydex Industries today marked its foray into the construction industry with the launch of Zycosil, an indigenously developed, nano size water proofing agent, here.

The company also announced plans to set up production units in India, the United States, China, Russia and Brazil for the product.

''We are seriously considering the possibilities in this regard as it will allow us an access to all corners of the world. If everything goes well, the units will be set up in next five years,'' company CEO Ajay Ranka told reporters.

Presently, Zydex has made arrangements for production of the water proofing agent in its plant at Vadodara, which chiefly produces water-based inks for textile printing, he informed.

''We have installed a capacity to produce 100 metric tonnes per month of the product. If the demand catches up, the plan is to extend the capacity up to 1,000 metric tonnes per month in the next five years,'' company's Silane and Silicone Division President Prakash Mehta specified.

Zycosil, developed through nano technology, offers protection from any damage to building caused by water. It also protects the structure from wind erosion and ultra violet rays of Sun for at least 20 years of its application.

The company has priced it at Rs 1,000 per litre which can be used to protect 500 sq ft of structure. Calculated per sq ft, it comes out to Rs 1.25 in case of verticle surface and Rs 2.50 for a horizontal surface.

To a question, Zydex CEO informed that initially the company will target builders, architects and engineers.

''As this market settles down in terms of utility and the general public gets aware of the product, we will introduce it for retail sale,'' he added.

The company has recieved an export order worth about 1.80 crore from North America and is in talks with Bangalore-based real estate developer Prestige Group for a contract.

It has already got the worldwide patent cover for the product for a period of 30 months.
