Two killed in tanker-truck collision in Punjab
Kapurthala, Oct 11 (UNI) Two persons were killed and one injured in a head-on collision between an oil tanker and a truck laden with empty LPG refills at Subhanpur village on the Jalandhar-Amritsar national highway this afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as driver Jhilmal Singh and cleaner Harjit Singh, both residents of village Rode near Moga. The injured who was travelling in the truck has been admitted in a private hospital at Subhanpur.
Police said that an alert was sounded when petrol started leaking from the tanker after the accident. A police party from Subhanpur cordoned the entire area and the vehicular traffic was stopped for a few minutes.
Fire tenders from Kapurthala and Jalandhar were rushed to the spot to meet any eventuality. Indian Oil Coproration (IOC) officials with two empty tankers also reached the spot and the petrol from the leaking tanker was refilled in the IOC tankers.
