TNCSC plans to procure 5 lakh tonne paddy
Thanjavur, Oct 11 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC) plans to procure nearly five lakh tonne paddy in the current Kuruvai paddy harvest season in the state.
For this TNCSC, has already opened 524 Direct Purchase Centres (DPC) in Cauvery Delta districts of Thanjavur, Tiruchirapalli and other parts, said Managing Director K Shanmugham here last evening.
Addressing media, he said TNCSC opened 207 DPCs in Thanjavur, 86 in Nagapattinam, 10 in Tiruchirapalli and 11 in Cuddalore.
TNCSC would pay Rs 580 to Rs 610 per quintal of paddy.
The MD also said TNCSC had deputed three teams of squad officers to make a surprise inspection on DPCs to know the conditions and these squads would take action against erring staff in DPC.
