Student commits suicide, Principal allegedly responsible

Jammu, Oct 11 (UNI) A ninth class student committed suicide in the Posh Gandhi Nagar locality here today, allegedly after being beaten by his school Principal, police sources said.

''Jatinder Singh, student of Harwinder Higher Secondary Public School, Gandhi Nagar, hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his home after returning from the school this afternoon,'' the sources told UNI.

Sources said he was reportedly very upset when reached home, and took the extreme step while nobody was around.

Police have registered a case against the Principal Kirtan Singh following the complaint from the family members of the student, the sources added.
