President Kalam to visit Jabalpur on Oct 12

Jabalpur, Oct 9: President A P J Abdul Kalam will take part in the golden jubilee celebration of the Madhya Pradesh High Court and convocation ceremony of the Rani Durgawati University here tomorrow.

Dr Kalam will arrive here in a special aircraft at 1000. He will be received by Governor Balram Jakhar, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Mayor Sushila Singh at the airport.

The President will drive straight to the university to take part in the convocation ceremony at 1030 hrs.

After about one hour, he will proceed to the High Court. Dr Kalam will remain for nearly one-and-half hour during the programme at the premises of the High Court, which was established on November 1, 1956.

Later, he will take lunch along with specially invited prominent citizens.

Dr Kalam will depart from here at 1425 hrs in the aircraft.

University Vice Chancellor Vijay Sharma said the President will be chief guest on the occasion, while Dr Jakhar will preside over the function.

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Ishwardas Rohani, Mr Chouhan and UGC Chairman Sikhdeo Thorat will be special guests.

Honorary doctorates would be granted to former Chief Justice of India R C Lahoti, Union Minister Kamal Nath, Lt General D D S Sandhu, Dr Sneha Bhargava and Dr V C Sahni.
