Pradeep Kumar takes over as NHAI chairman

New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) Mr Pradeep Kumar, IAS, has taken over as the chairman of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the autonomous body tasked with executing the stupendous National Highways Development Projet.

He takes over from Dr Satyanarayana Dash, currently Member (Finance) who was holding additional charge as Chairman.

A 1972 batch Haryana cadre officer, Mr Kumar was Special Secretary in the Ministry of Coal prior to his current assignment.

Having vast experience in areas such as Industries, Urban Development, Water Resources, Information Technology and Corporate Management, he has held important positions in the Central Government and the Haryana government.

Earlier, he served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Heavy Industries and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Coal. He also served as Principal Secretary in the Departments of Irrigation, Power, Town and Country Planning and Urban Estates in Haryana.

Mr Kumar holds a B-Tech in Electrical Engineering from the IIT, Delhi) and M.Sc in Economics and Social Studies from the UK.
