Police lathicharge on job seekers
Patna, Oct 11(UNI) Police today resorted to lathicharge to disperse a group of unemployed trained teachers who were staging demonstration since yesterday in protest against recruitment policy of Bihar Government to fill up vacant posts of teachers.
Police sources said that 28 persons were taken into custody and other demonstrators were chased away when they were trying to block traffic movements along a main thoroughfare of the capital city near the state secretariat.
The ongoing agitation is spearheaded by Bihar State Unemployed Trained Teachers' Union which demanded among others top priority to trained candidates in respect of appointment of teachers.
About a dozen agitationist sustained injuries in the police charge, claimed a spokesman of the Union.
