Nitish comes out in support of George Fernandes

Patna, Oct 11: Despite strained relations with former JD(U) national president George Fernandes, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed solidarity with him following filing of a CBI case against the former union minister in a defence deal.

''His integrity is above doubt and no finger can be raised on the honesty of Mr Fernandes who has had a spotless political career,'' Mr Kumar opined.

He further said the JD(U) leader had been implicated and the case had been lodged following political vendetta.

Mr Kumar told newspersons here last night that without getting into the details of the matter it was impossible for him to comment on the deal. He said the former defence minister's(also the NDA's national convener) role in financial issues could not be suspected under any circumstances.
