Nine killed in French train crash -rail official

PARIS, Oct 11 (Reuters) A passenger train has collided with a goods train in north eastern France killing nine people and injuring an unconfirmed number, an official for the state SNCF railways said today.

''There are nine dead,'' said the SNCF spokesman in Paris.

Another rail official said earlier that a passenger train from neighbouring Luxembourg had hit a goods train at Zoufftgen, in the French department of Moselle.
