NEMF for continuation of dialogue with ULFA

New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) The North East Media Forum (NEMF) - a body of journalists organisations based in Delhi have urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to continue the peace talks with the banned United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) for a lasting peace in the region.

The various media outfits engaged in reporting the issues concerning the north-east, in a memorandum to the Prime Minister, said ULFA leader Paresh Barua has reportedly expressed his desire to sit at the negotiating table with the Centre provided it gets a letter in this respect through ULFA appointed People's Consultative Group.

The people of Asom are eagerly awaiting a positive response from the Government so that peace could be restored in the insurgency-hit state at the earliest, the memorandum said.

The memorandum was jointly signed by the BEMF President Sushanta Choudhary and General Secretary Uttpal Borpujari.
