NBW against 71 in security scam

Patna, Oct 11 (UNI) Special Vigilance Judge of Patna Ram Niwash Prasad today issued non-bailable arrest warrants against 71 accused in the Bihar security scam.

The designated judge passed this order on the prayer of Patna Rail Police.

The case was related to presentation of forged National Saving Certificates (NSC) and Kisan Vikash Patras (KVP) as security deposits for obtaning contracts in different government departments and securing bank loans.

Blank NSCs and KVPs worth of about Rs 80 crore were stolen from Patna Junction in 1998. Later during investigation, it transpired that those NSCs and KVPs were tampered to suit the interest of some unscrupulous persons.

The case was handed over to the vigilance court when complicity of government officials in the case surfaced.
