Murder accused escapes from prison

Bhopal, Oct 11 (UNI) A murder accused, who was undergoing life imprisonment, escaped from the old city jail last night by giving slip to jail guards in a dramatic style, police said today.

Sartaj alias Shahrukh was rehearsing on the last day of three-day 'Bandi Diwas' programme inside jail premises.

The jail administration came to know about the prisoner's disappearance in the night.

After attempts to trace the accused failed, a missing complaint was lodged with police.

Sartaj, a resident of Jalaun district in Uttar Pradesh, was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2002 for murdering a relative.
