MP Govt goes for computer network

Bhopal, Oct 11 (UNI) For promoting e-governance in Madhya Pradesh, computer network right from block headquarters to state capital is being installed across the state with central assistance of Rs 120 crore.

The networking is scheduled to be completed in six months, when all development blocks, district headquarters, divisional headquarters and state capital would be linked with wide area network, official sources said.

A plan had been prepared to impart computer training to government employees.

A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister S R S Chouhan here yesterday reviewed the progress of Information Technology department.

The cyber treasury is facilitating online payment of taxes and duties. A total of 64 Mandis, 7 divisional offices of Mandis and the State Mani Board have been linked with computer network to provide information to farmers about the market arrival and prevailing market rates. Of the total 223 Mandis, 203 would be covered by computer network by next year.

Electronic tendering system is being introduced in PWD, PHE and Water Resources department, while issuing of driving licence had been computerised with the Transport department being brought under computer network.
