Motor vehicle inspector arrested in Pondy

Puducherry, Oct 11 (UNI) A motor vehicle inspector has been arrested in connection with the preparation of fake R C books in the transport department here.

The CID wing of the Puducherry police, which took up the investigation into the case arrested the inspector Arumugham yesterday, and is being interrogated, police sources said.

It may be noted that the issue of fake RC book came to light when a man from Rainbow Nagar here, who went to pledge his car with a bank was told that the RC book of the car was fake and a moped was running in that number.

On a complaint from the man, police registered a case and started investigation. Already three employees of the transport department and four car brokers, including one from Kerala were arrested and 15 cars with fake RC book seized.

The case was later transferred to the CID police.
