MapmyIndia previews v-2007 map navigator

New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) MapmyIndia.com, the two-year-old, online maps portal for India today unveiled its easier-to-use, futuristic version v-2007 with Web 2.0 platform which will provide detailed maps of any location on the net as well as on mobile devices which have global positioning reference system (GPRS).

MapmyIndia v-2007 provides services to all its consumers free of charge on the net by just registering themselves to the website.

''Our decision to provide these services at no charge aims to empower Indians to find their way around on their own,'' said CE Info Systems (P) Ltd (parent company of MapmyIndia.com) Managing Director Rakesh Verma.

The service which is to be launched within the next three weeks, covers 75 per cent of India in its navigator which is available in 163 cities with five lakh locations with a total of 700 million kilometers. The company plans to reach upto 2,000 cities by the next 12 months.

The service allows its users to drag the maps (at all zoom levels) to explore adjoining areas on the net and blends them with futuristc offerings, such as Mapsearch, e-location, driving directions and local search, to offer an array of location-based solutions centring on India.

Mr Verma said, ''This visual depiction completely eliminates the hassles of going round and round, seeking directions in the last-mile lap of the journey.'' It will be perfect for business solutions for consumer contact points, specially bank branches and ATMs, retail outlets, service centers and properties.

It allows the user to draw their own route on the map from the closest landmark, he added.
