MAI national rally championship begins on November 3

Chandigarh, Oct 11 (UNI) four-time Indian National champion Naren Kumar will lead the field in the fifth round of the MAI (Motorsports Association of India) Indian National Rally Championship-2006 for cars to be held from November 3 to 5.

National Champion Karandip Singh and local ace drivers Sunny Sidhu as well as Gaurav Gill and Arjun Balu would be there to give Naren Kumar a run for his money.

At the end of four rounds, Karandip of Team MRF currently leads the championship by one point to Gaurav Gill of Team JK, with Naren trailing two points behind teammate Gill in third.

The fierce team rivalry and new-found rally roads that no one has competed on before will make the choice of car an important decision and make the event a nail biting one right to the very last corner.

The rally will commence on November 3 from the Kalagram grounds here. It will run straight into the Spectator Super Special at the grounds itself. Here the drivers will manoeuvre their cars on a two km dirt track that replicates a rally stage.

For the next two days, the cars would proceed from Chandigarh to compete on brand new rally roads around the Kumarhatti hills, concluding with the podium finish at Kalagram on November 5. Fortis Hospital. a patron of this rally will provide all the medical support.

Entries close on October 30 at 1800 hrs. This rally is restricted to 40 entries. Ford Fiesta, Mitsubishi Cedia, Maruti Baleno, Esteem, Gypsy, Zen and 800, Honda City and the Mitsubishi Lancer are eligible to participate.
