Kerala HC appoints 'Advocate Commissioner' in Chikungunya case

Kochi, Oct 11 (UNI) The Kerala high court today appointed an 'Advocate Commissioner' to look into the disposal of garbage and solid waste in the Chikungunya-hit Alappuzha and Ernakulam district of the state.

A division bench consisting of Chief Justice V K Bali and Justice P R Raman appointed lawyer P B Sahasranaman as the 'Advocate Commissioner.' Continuing its hearings on two separate petitions related to the Chikungunya prevalence in the state, the court also directed the Kochi Corporation to file a specific statement on what steps it will take to dispose of garbage after expiry of the October 31 deadline given by the Naval authorities for the use of Willingdon Island for garbage disposal.

The Corporation is to file its report by October 16.
