Heroin worth more than 23 crore seized, 3 arrested

New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) As part on its ongoing drive against Narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the Capital, Police seized more than 23 kilogram of heroin and arrested three persons.

The seizure of 23.25 kg of heroin was made by the Narcotics Branch from three inter-state drug traffickers over two days, police said today.

In the first incident, a drug trafficker from Uttar Pradesh, Sohail, was arrested on October 9 near Gagan theatre in East Delhi.

A search of his bag resulted in the recovery of 17 kg heroin.

upon interrogation, he revealed that he was to supply heroin in Delhi, Mumbai, West Bengal and Ghaziabad after sourcing it from Rampur in UP.

In the second seizure made yesterday, one Ayyub from Rajasthan was arrested from the DSOI Club gate at Dhaula Kuan.

During his search, six kg heroin was recovered.

His interrogation revealed that he would himself prepare heroin from Opium as most of the farmers at his place in Chittor (Rajasthan) grew opium.

In a third case, a Sunder Nagri resident woman named Saraswati, was arrested yesterday and 255 gram heroin was seized from her possession.

The woman is a known peddlar in the Nand Nagri area.

She told the police that she has been in this trade for the last 3 yrs and named in two earlier cases of the NDPS Act.
