Health official convict in bribery case

Hyderabad, Oct 11 (UNI) The Special Judge for Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Cases at Nellore today convicted Regional Deputy Director of Indian Medicines and Homeopathic Department in Kadapa District in a bribery case.

The judge sentenced Mr G S Subramanya Sastry to undergo one year rigorous imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs 5,000 for the offence.

The ACB officials had arrested Mr Sastry for accepting Rs 1,000 as bribe from the complainant on March 22, 1999, an offical release said here.

Meanwhile, ACB slueths today trapped Mr C Vijaya Bhaskar Rao, Inspector of Police of Kovur Circle in Nellore District, while he was accepting Rs 2,500 as bribe from the complainant.

The accused would be produced before the Special Judge for ACB Cases, Nellore.
