FIR against George is based on facts and evidences: Lalu

Patna, Oct 11 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad today said that the case against National convenor of the NDA and former Defence Minister George Fernandes for receiving kickbacks in the defence deal had been registered on the basis of facts and evidences and not on basis of 'political vendetta.'' Talking to mediapersons today, he said allegations of Mr Fernandes that ''he had been implicated at the behest of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was baseless.'' ''Ms Gandhi is a person who does not believe in vindictive actions,'' he said and alleged that ''the NDA was indulging in blame game while in power and had implicated its political opponents.'' Mr Prasad said the CBI had got evidence that Mr Fernandes received Rs two crore as kickback in the purchase of Barak Missile.

The Centre would not interfere in the functionings of the CBI, which should also probe whether the money received by him was spent in Bihar assembly elections.

Mr Fernandes a Convenor, had pumped in huge funds in the elections, he claimed.

He further said that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was actually not concerned about Mr Fernandes and was just making lip services by describing the former Defence Minister as an ''honest'' man.
