Elaborate security measures for civic polls

Coimbatore, Oct 11 (UNI) Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place including videographing of sensitive 384 polling booths in the district for the local body elections, according to District Collector Neeraj Mittal.

Addressing a press meet here today, Mr Mittal said about 5000 police were deployed for elections scheduled on October 13 and 15.

Apart from this, about 250 persons were taken into preventive custody to prevent untoward incidents. Police personnel from Kerala were also being deployed for election duty, he added.
