Dehradun acid attack accused surrenders in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, Oct 11 (UNI) The main accused, Avinash Sharma, in the sensational acid attack incident of Dehradun, today surrendered in a local court here.

The 23-year-old accused, hailing from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, has been remanded in judicial custody for a trial in Dehradun court.

The judicial remand was awarded by Duty Magistrate Atul Marya following the surrender of the accused in the local court here this evening.

Avinash will now be produced in a Dehradun court tomorrow, police here said.

Avinash had allegedly thrown acid on one Rangoli, the sister of Bollywood actress Kangana. She sustained serious burn injuries and was admitted to a hospital. Her room mate Vijay Jublani had sustained five per cent burns in the attack.

The Uttaranchal Police had released a sketch of the accused following the incident.
