Curfew to be lifted in Mangalore tomorrow
Mangalore, Oct 11 (UNI) Curfew, imposed in the city and its suburbs since October 5, will be lifted from tomorrow morning, with the violence-marred areas limping back to normalcy following no report of untoward incidents since yesterday.
District administration sources said that, however, prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC would be in force in the trouble-torn places for the next three days. The situation was now peaceful, the sources added.
While day-long curfew was imposed initially to contain the communal clashes that broke out in the district, it was scaled down to night curfew in the last two days.
In all, 150 people had been arrested in connection with the violence which had claimed two lives and left more than 100 people injured in Mangalore City, B C Road, Konaje, Veeranagar, Kuttalapadavu, Ullal and Bantwal.
All schools and colleges have reopened and business establishments were operating normally.
