Contraceptives to improve health, stabilisation help population
New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Panabaka Lakshmi today said contraceptive are a tool to help achieve the national goals for improving reproductive health along with population stabilisation.
Delivering inaugural address at a symposium on Indian Contraceptive Technologies here today, Ms Lakshmi said that the Government has an open mind to utilize contraceptive technologies which are safe and effective whether developed outside or in India.
However, the government is also equally keen to promote its own R&D efforts for indigenous production of a variety of contraceptives and use them as per the national drug regulatory norms, she added.
Health Secretary P K Hota spoke on the Needs of the Family Welfare programme.
