Congress will emerge stronger in UP : Gehlot
Kota, Oct 11 (UNI) Asserting that Congress has gained ground in Uttar Pradesh, party general secretary Ashok Gehlot is hopeful of further improvement in its position in the future.
Speaking to reporters here today, Mr Gehlot said Uttar Pradesh will soon hold elections to urban local bodies where Congress will fight on its own and definitely perfomr well in the poll.
Mr Gehlot, who is incharge of Uttar Pradesh party affairs, said the Congress in the 1996 Assembly polls as its alliance with Bahujan Samaj Party proved to be a wrong decision.
He said the Congress will try to rectify its errors this time and will emerge as a strong contender in the coming polls.
The Congress leader said the party has been out of power in UP for the last 16 years and the common people have now realised that Congress is the best alternative.
On Rajasthan, Mr Gehlot said Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has no right to continue as there is no mutual trust between herself and her Cabinet collegues.
He claimed the Chief Minister has lost the confidence of her ministers as her Cabinet colleagues have charged her with taking decisions independently without taking them into confidence.
