Clear cut policy on cattle transportation needed: Thimmappa
Mangalore, Oct 11 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and former Minister Kogodu Thimmappa today demanded that the Karnataka Government come out with a clear cut policy on illegal transportation of cattle.
Addressing a press conference here, he said such a clear cut policy, instead of the existing ''dual'' policy, would enable the administration to deal sternly with those taking law into their own hands.
Mr Thimmappa, who earlier visited some of the trouble-hit areas, suspected that the violence in the district, triggered by illegal transportation of livestock, was a ''well planned and systematic conspiracy''.
Opining that there was no need for a bandh called by Bajrang Dal which only precipitated the matter, he demanded that the Government immediately ban ''unwanted bandhs'' and order a detailed inquiry into the incidents to punish the real culprits.
He announced that the KPCC would provide Rs 50,000 each to the two persons killed in the communal clashes in the district.
