China unaware of possible second NKorea nuke test

BEIJING, Oct 11 (Reuters) The Chinese foreign ministry is unaware whether North Korea might have a conducted a second nuclear test, a spokeswoman said today.

Japanese national broadcaster NHK reported that government sources in Tokyo had information that there was a tremor in North Korea on Wednesday morning and they were checking on the possibility of a nuclear test.

Asked about the NHK report, the spokeswoman said she was not aware of the issue.

Defying warnings from its neighbours, the United States and the UN Security Council, North Korea announced on Monday that it had conducted its first nuclear test. Pyongyang had earlier said a US ''threat of nuclear war and sanctions'' had forced its hand.
