Centre sanctions Rs 500 crore

Rajahmundry, Oct 11 (UNI) Member of Central Committee on Social Justice M Subba Rao today said the Centre had sanctioned Rs 500 crore for scholarships in the current financial year additionally.

Addressing newspersons here, Mr Rao said stern action would be taken on those who involve in corrupt parctice in distributing scholarships.

He said he had so far visited various institutions in Guntur, West Godavari, Khammam, Kurnool and Krishna districts to access, whether the scholarship amount was properly distributed.

So far no complaints were received from students.

Mr Rao said Rs one crore was distributed to SC students and Rs four crore to BC students in Rajahmundry division during 2005-06.
