CBI files chargesheet against PF Commissioner
New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) The CBI has filed a chargesheet against an Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner for possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The wife of accused M K Pandey has also been chargesheeted in the case for 'aiding and abetting' him, said the CBI here today.
CBI had registered a regular case on February 1, 2005 against Pandey who was then working as Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner in Chandigarh at the Employees Provident Fund Organisation, Union Ministry of Labour, for allegedly amassing assets in his and his wife's name which were disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Investigations revealed that Pandey had acquired assets worth nearly Rs 1.02 crore between January 2001 to February 2005 which included a flat in Vaishali (Ghaziabad) and a two-storeyed house in Saharanpur (UP), Rs 46.91 lakh in cash and in the form of NSCs/Bonds/Post Office deposits along with deposits in bank accounts worth nearly Rs 69.55 lakh.
Besides this, expenditure of Rs 9.24 lakh including repayment of bank loans and payments for LIC policies were also unearthed.
The chargesheet was filed under section 13(2) read with 13(1)(e) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 in Ghaziabad last Friday.
