Bomb hoax at Kozhikode

Kozhikode, Oct 11 (UNI) Security forces here today received a hoax call from an unidentified person that bombs had been planted at several places, keeping the police on their toes for several hours.

Police said an anonymous caller informed the police control room here that he heard two co-passengers on a train discussing their plan to plant bombs at the new and old bus stands, ICICI Bank, Mananchira Square, Vatakara bus stand and in a church at Mahe.

It turned out to be a hoax as after exhaustive screening at the bank premises and other areas in the city by bomb squads and sniffer dogs, nothing could be found, police said.

The authorities at Vatakara in the district and Mahe were also alerted, police added.
