BJP, BJS candidates file from Malehra

Bhopal, Oct 11: BJP nominee Kapoor Chand Ghuwara and Bharatiya Jan Shakti candidate Rekha Yadav today filed their nomination papers for the October 30 Assembly byelection in Malehra constituency in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, state BJP chief Satyanarayan Jatia, state minister Jayant Malaiya were among those present when Mr Ghuwara filed the papers. Mr Ghuwara, a former CPI MLA, joined BJP recently after quitting Congress.

BJS founder-president Uma Bharti, whose resignation on moral ground after her expulsion from BJP caused the vacancy, nominated Mrs Yadav, sister-in-law of former Congress MLA Uma Yadav, as the party candidate.

Former Union Minister and BJS General Secretary Prahlad Patel also accompanied Mrs Yadav while filing the nomination. Ms Bharti, however, was not present.

Samajwadi Party candidate Surendra Singh Yadav and Chhatarpur District Congress Committee President Jagdish Shukla had filed the papers, though the Congress was yet to declare its candidate.

For the Lok Sabha byelection in Vidisha, Samajwadi Party's state General Secretary Munnawar Salim had already filed his papers.

State PHE Minister Rampal Singh, who has been declared BJP nominee, will file the papers on October 13, while BJS state president Raghunandan Sharma has been nominated BJS candidate.

Vidisha seat fell vacant due to the resignation by Mr Shivraj Singh Chouhan on his election to the Assembly after becoming Chief Minister in November last year.
