Baichung slapped three match suspension, Rs 50,000 fine
Kolkata, Oct 11 (UNI) Even as the Indian soccer captain slogged it out against Japan in Bangalore, the Indian Football Association today suspended Baichung Bhutia for the remaining three matches of Kolkata Premier League and slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 for dissent during an Easty Bengal-Mohun Bagan derby match.
The governing body of the IFA today in an unanimous verdict slapped the suspension and fine on Baichung with a rider that if he did not pay the monetary penalty, he will have to miss the first two matches of next year's Kolkata premier league.
Baichung was shown red card during the last East Bengal-Mohun Bagan tie and he was seen pushing the referee for that and after that refused to leave the technical area. Mohun Bagan football Secreatary Debashis Dutta and Physio Robson also pervented the officials from removing Baichung.
As a result they had been barred from the technical area for one match of the Kolata Premier League and cautioned for their behaviour.
At the same time East bengal has been cautioned for arriving late for the derby tie.
The Calcutta Referee Association had been asked to explain why the referee did continue with the match after Baichung refused to move out of the technical area.
