96 extra EMU coaches in Howrah suburban services

Kolkata, Oct 11 (UNI) Howrah division of Eastern railway has recently started running three EMU rakes consisting 12 coaches in the Howrah-Bandel and Howrah-Bardhaman sections.

A total number of 32 trains (including 7 peak hour locals) were being run with the help of these three rakes.

With the addition of these 12 coach rakes, Howrah division is running 96 extra coaches everyday in the suburban services. Out of these 32 trains, 26 are running between Howrah and Bandel, four between Howrah and Seoraphuli and two between Howrah and Bardhaman.

This has resulted in increase in carrying capacity of about 25,000 more suburban passengers in EMU trains per day.

Meanwhile, Vivek Srivastava has taken over as the new Group General Manager of Indian railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) in Kolkata. Mr Srivastava was earlier posted as Senior Divisional Safety Officer in Kharagpur Division of South Eastern Railway.
