21 MSOs get permission to operate under CAS in 4 metros
New Delhi, Oct 11 (UNI) The Ministry of Information&Broadcasting has granted provisional permission to 21 Multi Service Operator (MSO) to operate under Conditional Access System (CAS) in the notified areas of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai.
The Ministry had received 35 applications from MSOs for such permission.
The remaining applicants have been advised to furnish clarifications/additional information.
In terms of Rule 11 of Cable Television Networks Rules, every MSO who desires to provide cable television network services in the notified CAS areas is required to get permission from the Central Government for operating in the notified areas.
The Government had, on July 31, issued a notification regarding the implementation of CAS in the notified areas of the four metros following a Delhi High Court order of July 20.
In this connection, the Government had also notified the Cable Television Networks (Second Amendment) Rules, 2006.
The MSOs who have been given permission are:Siti Cable Network, New Delhi, Hathway Cable&Datacom, Mumbai, Spectra Net Limited, New Delhi, Silver Line Broadband Services, Howrah Cable Network , Kolkata Cable&Broadband Pariseva, Kailash Cable Network, Howrah, Cable Comm Services, Kolkata, Home Cable Network, New Delhi, Indian Cable Net Company, Kolkata, Satellite Channels, Sanjay Cable Network, Star Broadband Services (India), New Delhi, JPR Channel, Mumbai, Sristi Cable TV Network Ltd., Kolkata, Manthan Broadband Services Kolkata, Barasat Cable TV Network Pvt. Ltd. Barasat, North 24 Parganas, Home Cable Entertainment India Pvt. Ltd, Satellite Cable TV Network, Mumbai, IndusInd Media &Communications Mumbai, Kal Cables, Chennai.
