13 MNS, Sena activists arrested for clashing
Mumbai, Oct 11 (UNI) A local court here today remanded thirteen persons, arrested in connection with clashes between Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and Shiv Sena activists yesterday in the metropolis, to police custody till October 13.
The MNS and Shiv Sena activists had clashed here last evening over the tearing of posters carrying the picture of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray at Shivaji Park.
Police had arrested eight Shiv Sena activists and five MNS activists for disrupting law and order, damaging public property and obstructing Government officials from discharging their duties.
The arrested persons have been identified as MLA Sada Sarvankar, Rajesh Patankar, Chandrakant Zagade, Prasant Kakade, Vijay Kadam, Ajit Kadam, Abhijit Panse, and Milind Vaidya (all Shiv Sainiks), and Sunil Metkar, Laxman Suttar, Tatyarao Shinde, Yashwant Kildare and Vinod Korare (all activists of the Raj Thackeray-headed MNS).
All the arrested were produced before metropolitan magistrate B L Waghmare this afternoon who remanded them to police custody till October 13. Their bail applications will also be heard on the same date.
In the clash yesterday, two State Reserve Police jawans -- S N Desarkar and Bhogale -- were injured while trying to disperse the mobs.
