Pindi explosion, rockets case suspect arrested
Islamabad, Oct 10: Pakistan security agencies have arrested a person with links to a banned religious outfit for his suspected involvement in the last week's mysterious explosions at the Ayub Park in Rawalpindi and planting of rockets in front of the Parliament House and ISI headquarters in Islamabad.
The security agencies had arrested Nadeem, son of Yousaf, a student of fourth year from the Cantonment Police Station area during an operation launched on Sunday midnight, The Nation reported, quoted informed sources.
The security personnel cordoned off the area at 0145 hrs (local time) and launched the search operation, which lasted for about one hour, leading to Nadeem's arrest.
They also recovered a briefcase and black polythene shopping bag from his possession, which contained many important documents and maps related to Ayub Park blast and recovery of rockets in front of the Parliament House and ISI headquarters.
The suspect belonged to a banned religious outfit and is the resident of Mehra Jafar, a residential area in the jurisdiction of Police Station Golra, Islamabad, sources said.
The security agencies and investigating team have termed it as an important breakthrough towards unfolding the conspiracy planned, to create law and order situation especially in the twin cities.
They said this arrest would help them in tracking down other high profile culprits, involved in these crimes.
The top security brass believed an organised gang is operative, as a single person could not carry out such a planned crime.
Meanwhile, the security agencies took Nadeem to some unknown place for further interrogation.
