Govt committed to eradicate child labour: Tripathy
Chennai, Oct 10 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Government is serious in its commitment to eradicate child labour in domestic and hospitality sectors, according to Chief Secretary L K Tripathy.
Speaking at a workshop on 'Domestic Child Labour and in Hospitality Sector' here today, he said the District Collectors had been instructed to undertake massive awareness generation on child labour, conver services of all departments, rescue and rehabilitate children who are bonded labour.
He said the Tamil Nadu government was proactive towards eradication of child labour. The State Action Plan for eradication of Child labour aimed to eradicate it in all forms by 2007.
The State Child Labour Rehabilitation cum Welfare Society was registered and Rs 1.25 crore had been allotted by the government for creating massive awareness generation on the issue of child labour, he added.
