Bomb alert closes Geneva train station
GENEVA, Oct 10 (Reuters) Police evacuated Geneva's main railway station and part of the city centre today after receiving a bomb alert by telephone.
A phone call at 1720 hrs said there were explosive devices at the station and a department store in the city centre, a police spokesman said.
Both areas were evacuated and police were using dogs to sniff out any explosives.
Police failed to find a bomb at the department store and reopened that area of the city, said spokesman Christophe Zawadzki.
The station remained closed and police called a news conference for later today evening.
Swiss authorities last week informed the United Nations of a ''possible terrorist attack'' against its European headquarters in Geneva, its biggest premises outside New York.
