Young couple shot at while on way to get married

New Delhi, Oct 9 (UNI) A young couple, on their way to get married, was shot at and critically wounded in a firing by one of their relatives in Punjabi Bagh area of West Delhi this afternoon.

The assailant, said to be cousin of the girl, Raj, was accompanied by six other people when he shot at her and her fiance Bhupinder at about 1400 hrs in Punjabi Bagh, said a senior police official.

The couple -- Raj and Bupinder -- travelling in a car were overtaken by the attacker and had an argument after which he shot at them and then fled.

''Two-three shot were fired,'' said the official.

They have been admitted to the Deendayal Upadhyay Hopsital in a critical condition, he added.

Sources said the girl's parents were against the proposed marriage.
