US intelligence can't confirm NKorea nuclear test

WASHINGTON, Oct 9 (Reuters) US intelligence cannot confirm North Korea conducted a nuclear test, an official said.

''We cannot confirm,'' said a US official last night who asked not to be identified because he was not authorized to speak publicly.

North Korea's Central News Agency, or KCNA, said the country had successfully carried out an underground nuclear test.
