Unions flay IBA on pension scheme
Ahmedabad, Oct 9 (UNI) The working committee of the All India Central Bank Employees Congress (affiliated to Indian National Bank Employees Federation, the banking wing INTUC) resolved to go on strike as per the call given by the United Front of Bank Unions on October 27, 2006 unless the IBA takes steps to resolve several long-pending issues.
The working committee met here today under the aegis of Central Bank Staff Union, Gujarat to observe its silver jubilee year (1982-2006) and to take stock of the problems of the Central Bank of India employees in particular and that of the industry in general.
The chief guest of the function was Union Textiles minister Shankarsinh Vaghela. Mr Subhash S Sawant(Mumbai), general secretary, INBEF and Rajya Sabha member Pravin Rashtrapl and state INTUC chief Nihil Mehta were among the participants.
The meeting expressed indignation at the lackasiadical approach of the IBA in ignoring their demand for a second option in the Pension scheme in lieu of the contributory provident fund introduced in the banking industry through an agreement on October 27, 1993 which is leading to ''peculiar'' situation wherein a section of employees who joined office before November 1993 agreement were getting pension but another section of pre-1993 were denied the same.
