RTC on verge of strike

Visakhapatnam, Oct 9: Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana today exuded confidence that RTC employees would not go on an indefinite strike as the talks with the union leaders would help to find out an amicable solution soon.

Speaking at the 'meet-the-press' programme organised by Vizag Journalists Forum here, he said before going on strike the Union leaders should safeguard the interest of employees and remember the facts of last year's strike in which the RTC had suffered a loss of Rs 50 crore.

Reiterating the government's commitment for the development of the corporation and welfare of its employees, the minister justified the allocation of unused RTC lands on lease for commercial purposes to improve the health of the corporation.
