Two more suspected Chikungunya deaths: toll 100

Alappuzha, Oct 9 (UNI) The toll in the suspected Chikungunya fever has touched 100 as two more deaths were reported in the Cherthala taluk here today.

While Devaki, 71, of Mararikulam pancahyat died at the medical hospital here Shankarakutty, 85, from Kanzhikuzhy panchayat passed away at home of the suspected fever.

According to sources, more than 2000 patients come for treatment daily at the out-patient department of the Chertala government hospital.

Around 1000 people suffering from high fever and other symptoms of Chikungunya today consulted doctors at the Thuravoor community health centre, sources added.
